This project was nominated for awards for our work on the Art Institute of Houston's cafeteria. This floor is one, solid piece of concrete with scoring, stain and epoxy coating. Our crews had to mask off different areas while scoring and staining the concrete.

Type:

Commercial

Contractor:

DE Harvey - Houston, Texas

Scope:

1400 Square Feet of Custom Decorative Score, Stain and Seal

This project is one that people will be talking about for years.  You can see from the photos above, the floor has a custom pattern with the vibrant colors.  This floor looks like it was pieced together but it is actually one solid piece of concrete!

This project consisted of leveling an existing concrete floor with Ardex SDT with depths of topping ranging from ¾” – 1¼”.  ACS had to pour the topping and honor the existing expansion joints to help prevent cracking.  After pouring the topping, ACS laid out the decorative scoring pattern and stained the floors using 3 colors.  This process required that we masked off each section as colors were switched and to protect areas that did not receive stain.  We finished the process with treating expansion joints, sealer and top-coat.

Custom floors are the focal point of any room or complex that the project will either be a rousing success or an epic failure.  We are asked to do these types of projects because we will complete the project in a way that the owner and contractor deem it a complete success, everytime!
